By creating an account or using Bloodline ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These terms form a contract between you and the operator of Bloodline, an individual operating from Ontario, Canada.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By signing up, you confirm that you meet this requirement. Parents and guardians may create accounts on behalf of children to include them in a family tree, but the account holder must be 13 or older.
You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Bloodline uses passwordless authentication (magic link / 6-digit code delivered by email). Do not share your sign-in codes with others.
You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their consent, except for minor children in your care who are included in your family tree.
You retain ownership of all content you create in Bloodline โ family stories, photos, biographies, memories, and documents ("Your Content"). By uploading content to Bloodline, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and transmit Your Content solely to provide the Service to you and the family members you invite.
We do not claim ownership of Your Content and will not use it for any purpose beyond operating the Service.
You agree not to use Bloodline to:
Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of your account without notice.
Many records in Bloodline relate to real people โ including living people and children. You are responsible for using the Service in a way that respects their privacy. Do not include sensitive information about living people without their knowledge, and do not share access to a family tree with people who should not have it.
Bloodline's privacy controls (visibility settings, access roles) are tools to help you manage this responsibility; they do not absolve you of it.
The core Service is currently provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features, premium tiers, or subscription plans in the future.
If we introduce paid features, we will:
We will never sell your family data or personal information, regardless of future business model changes.
We provide the Service on an "as is" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will give reasonable notice for material changes that affect stored data.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, Bloodline and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data, loss of content, or service interruptions.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or CAD $10 if you have not paid anything).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of Bloodline from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.
You may delete your account at any time through the Family Settings in the app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We will delete your personal data within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Ontario, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
